Samurai as Artful Chess Pieces in a Japanese Style

To this day, the samurai are associated with ideals such as loyalty, courage and honour, even though this image was strongly idealised over the course of history. These 32 wonderfully designed chess pieces in a refined Japanese style are wonderfully detailed. With their antique-look figures, the game of chess becomes a true and honourable game of kings. The splendid figures – with a high-ranking ruler or samurai lord as the king, an elegantly dressed woman as the queen, the samurai, the dragon as the knight and the kneeling foot soldiers as pawns – are wonderfully detailed and finely worked, as are the elaborately decorated pedestals on which the artful samurai chess pieces stand. The finely gleaming figures, inspired by ancient Japanese warriors, are crafted in Italy and come with a "Made in Italy" certificate. Through the high-quality, antique-look gold and silver colours, they bring not only a historical but also an elegant and refined sheen to any game of chess.

32 Hand-Made Samurai Figures in Zinc Alloy

With these artful chess pieces, the king figure is 10 cm tall and that of the foot soldiers as pawns is 8 cm tall. The base of the impressive figures has a diameter of 3.2 cm. The set of figures will delight anyone fascinated by the history of old Japan and its samurai warriors. It thus also makes a wonderful gift that, through the size of the beautifully worked figures and the gleaming material, looks exceptionally refined and decorative. As no chessboard is included, the set can be deliberately combined with a board whose square size matches the base, and left on display as a representative showpiece all year round. A chessboard is not included with this set of figures.
