Medieval Chess Pieces in Fine Zinc Alloy
Even at medieval courts, chess was considered a fitting skill of the nobility and was closely associated with courtly culture and knighthood, and one can well imagine that at the royal court there might also have been chess pieces cast from gold or silver. Our 32 small, hand-made medieval chess pieces in metal are made of fine zinc alloy and come with a "Made in Italy" certificate. From the almost monastically plain clothing to the knight on the knight's piece, the small silver- and gold-coloured figures are wonderfully worked and truly look as though they had already "made their move" back in the Middle Ages. The size is perfect for keeping them even in a small box. The 4 cm tall pawn, for example, has a base of 1.8 cm in diameter, and the 6 cm tall king a base of 2.1 cm. The small medieval chess pieces in metal come without a chessboard.
32 Small Chess Pieces for Compact Boards
The 32 pieces of both sides in silver and gold finish are hand-made in Italy from zinc alloy, giving each piece its palpable metal weight. The compact format suits travel sets and smaller boards as well as the display cabinet, where the medieval figures make a decorative collector's item. As the pieces are supplied without a chessboard, they can be deliberately combined with a suitable board whose square size matches the base of the figures – ideal for chess players, medieval enthusiasts and collectors of artful playing pieces.
