Founded by Steve Harris in 1975, Iron Maiden went down in history as pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Their debut album hit the shelves in 1980. Even today, they’re a true cult band – and anyone who loves loud, heavy guitars has heard them at least once. Tracks like “Run to the Hills”, “The Number of the Beast”, “Bring Your Daughter… to the Slaughter” or “Fear of the Dark” feel timeless. Iron Maiden have sold over 100 million records worldwide. Their unmistakable style has shaped heavy metal for decades, and countless greats – including Metallica and Megadeth – have named Iron Maiden as a key influence.

Fan merchandise from one of the greatest metal bands of all time

Vocalist Bruce Dickinson, who joined the band in 1981, is still (and once again) the frontman responsible for Iron Maiden’s signature vocals. His long, powerful high notes earned him the nickname “Air Raid Siren”. Just as iconic are the melodic riffs, guitar lines and power chords, along with the catchy hooks and choruses that nearly every metal fan can sing along to – at least a little. With the album “The Number of the Beast”, Bruce Dickinson and the band achieved their international breakthrough in 1982.

Follow-up albums like “Piece of Mind” and “Powerslave” also reached legendary status and are still on repeat for true Iron Maiden fans. How can you spot them? Internal tensions, line-up changes and musical breaks also shaped the band’s history between 1989 and 1998. Thankfully, the reunion came in 1999, followed by the album “Brave New World” in 2000.
