Rarities and niche motifs
Foxes, squirrels and otters set naturalistic accents – particularly as garden figurines in resting, sneaking or playful poses. Foxes appear as family scenes with cubs as well as standalone figurines; squirrels in lively or alert poses bring outdoor areas to life as garden decor. Otters as reclining or standing figurines round out the picture of native water animals.
Highland cows have long been a classic in the world of decorative figurines – partly naturalistic with long hair and horns, partly in humorous design with glasses or in the three-monkey motif. Ferrets, capybaras and pig figurines in various executions show how broad the animal motif spectrum is beyond classic domestic and wild animals.
A particular niche is formed by dinosaur skull replicas – finely detailed reproductions of Triceratops, Spinosaurus and Dilophosaurus skulls, aimed at palaeontology fans and collectors. The bronzed Wall Street bull and the steampunk mouse on a skateboard show that animal figurines can also work as strong decorative motifs well beyond naturalistic depiction.
