Hypnos, the Greek god of sleep, has the power to send mortals and gods alike into deep slumber. His name is the origin of the word “hypnosis.”

Above the rooftops of a sleeping city, a crescent moon rises like a wave – a nod to his mother Nyx, goddess of the night.

Greek myths tell of many stories around Hypnos, including his connection to the moon goddess Selene.

This hand-painted and bronzed figurine from Veronese’s Studio Collection shows him holding a staff topped with a crescent and tiny bells, and a lantern in his right hand.

As in classical representations, Hypnos appears here as a winged youth with delicate butterfly wings at his head – serene, poised and dreamlike.

With staff, the statue measures 32.5 cm tall (30 cm without), 19.5 cm wide and 15.5 cm deep. Both figure and staff are designed to be assembled by hand.
