Aztec Skull with Artful Ornaments

The Aztecs existed between the 14th and the early 16th century as a Mesoamerican culture. They were an ethnically heterogeneous population of the Valley of Mexico. Many gruesome myths about human sacrifice and other practices surround them. Yet they were an advanced people. They engaged in trade and art and created a famous form of calendar. However, owing to their aggressive behaviour, they were not particularly well liked. The skull of an Aztec is made of high-quality, hand-painted polyresin. The ornaments and patterns have been worked out with love and precision. This pattern runs across the entire skull and reflects the myth of the Aztecs. Dark and mysterious, its empty eye sockets seem to gaze out. It appears to know something that it does not wish to reveal.
