Saint Teresa with an Angel, an Arrow and a Rapturous Expression

Modelled on the masterpiece of a great baroque artist from the mid-17th century, this passionate depiction of "The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa" comes from Veronese's Studio Collection. It shows the vision of Saint Teresa of Ávila, who described in her autobiography how an angel pierced her heart with a golden spear with a fiery tip, leaving nothing but divine love and setting her heart aflame with the love of God. The ecstatic and sensual depiction of the original sculpture, made of the finest white Carrara marble, has been wonderfully recreated by Veronese – from the loving gaze of the angel with the arrow to the enraptured expression of Saint Teresa and the rich folds of her robe. The 23 cm tall, 17 cm wide and 11 cm deep, finely bronzed sculpture is made of high-quality polyresin. Through the fine and restrained colouring, a whole new and intense expressive power emerges in this famous mystical vision. This exciting and impressive sculpture of Saint Teresa with the angel becomes an admired eye-catcher in any setting, and thus also an extraordinary and impressive gift.

A Figurine after Bernini for Baroque and Sacred Art

Bernini's famous original was created in the 17th century for the Cornaro Chapel in Santa Maria della Vittoria in Rome. The Veronese figurine takes up this significant scene of baroque art as a decorative collector's piece and fits especially well in a display cabinet, beside art books or in a collection of sacred and art-historical motifs. This way, the expressive pair of figures finds a fitting place to be shown even outside a religious setting.
